Dr. Alexander Hird
GENERAL DENTIST Dr. Hird is a principal at White Rock Dental Group, joining the group in 2005, and has over 20 years of clinical experience.
Previously, he was a hospital dentist at Vancouver Coastal Health from 2005-12, where he treated medically complex patients. He has also worked on rotations as a public health dentist in Haida Gwaii, BC and the Vancouver Downtown Eastside. Dr. Hird teaches as a CAD/CAM mentor at the Spear Campus in Scottsdale AZ. For a decade, he was a clinical instructor at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry, until 2017. In addition to his professional credentials, he brings health policy and administrative expertise to the practice; he cares about advancing the standards and quality of oral health care. In 2022, Dr. Hird was appointed by the Health Minister as a board member at the newly created oral health professions regulator in BC, the BC College of Oral Health Professionals, an amalgamation of four separate legacy regulators. At the former dental regulator, he served as a board member, and chair and member of senior committees. He is an examiner for the National Dental Examining Board of Canada. And, his service to the profession was recognized in 2017 by the International College of Dentists. He also holds a graduate degree in health economics, policy and management from the London School of Economics. Dr. Hird also speaks Spanish and French. Professional affiliations
